Lilac Belle to beat Ponte Di Rosa in the Bhest Racing To School Selling Hurdle at Fakenham on 8th May
The Class 5 Bhest Racing To School Selling Hurdle will be staged at Fakenham over two miles on Tuesday, 8th May. The £2,053 purse has attracted seven runners for the race.
The leading entry for the race today is Lilac Belle, Robellino’s six-year-old bay mare out of mare, Lilac Dreams. She had been active during the new season five times already with two of them being at Fakenham. Surprisingly the two best rankings on her profile for the 2012 season are from Fakenham, a win and a third position.
She strode into the new season on 13th January in the Equimark Horseboxes Mares’ Novices’ Handicap Hurdle at Huntingdon over two miles and half a furlong. The 5/2 favourite, Dreambrook Lady, won the race and led by 2 ¾ lengths.
Settling the closest to the winner was Pampelonne while managing the third spot was Flora’s Pride.
Lilac Belle herself ended sixth with Sam Jones riding.
Her first career success was in the West Norfolk Sporting Trust Selling Handicap Hurdle on 17th February at Fakenham over two miles. With Killian Moore onboard, Lilac Belle, led the track by 1 ¾ lengths.
Qualifying as the runner up was Prince Freddie while the 9/4 favourite of the race, Brilliant, had to come at terms with the third position.
Before this Lilac Belle had remained unsuccessful in the eleven races which came her way.
Her most recent try yet again was at Fakenham in the Ella Rush Birthday Celebration Selling Hurdle on 9th April over two miles and four furlongs. This time however, she could not claim the race.
King Of Castile was the 7/4 favourite winner who led the runner up, Sumak, by an amazing nineteen lengths.
Lilac Belle concluded the race third with Campbell Gillies onboard.
The sixth outing of the season promises her the second career and seasonal victory. She should make the most out of the experience at Fakenham by which she leads the rest of the line-up.
The only candidate for the race who can prove threatening for Lilac Belle is Ponte Di Rosa who too has won at Fakenham during the new season. She has raced three times already and the only victory that she could bag was at Fakenham.
