  1. I respect him.

  2. A top player in his day, a world class defender and has played for some of the tops clubs in Europe and on the international stage, he has done the right thing retiring when he found out about the heart condition, but as good a defender as you will see.

  3. In his prime he was a masterclass of a defender, who I unfortunately didn't get to see very much. I think it's only right he gets to go out of football having played at a world class club like Barcelona in his final seasons, instead of going out with a whimper at a failing French side.

He was a credit to the sport.

  4. Very good player shame he had to go out like he did but lucky it was found ( I read his brother died from a heart problem) I rated him as one of the best defenders in his prime.

  5. Every players' time has to come to an end.

  6. One of the best defenders of all time

One of few players who can claim patriotism

Perhaps most importantly for France, their saviour in the 1998 World Cup semifinal

    Thanks for everything

Hope to see him back as coach soon
