Lille, Marseille, or Nice?

Question

Going to Uni. in France next year. Those are the choices I have narrowed it down to.

Best city of those for student life? 19 years old...

I would be there in the winter(Sept-May)

Lille, It's beautiful, easy and quick to get home (for me at least, Yorkshire) Belgium's just over the border. There's some great clubs there but hardly any in Lille. It's gotta be Lille.Marseille's too sweaty. lol

Your choice is extreme, from north to south.

As i live close to Lille and i've been student there,  i can tell you some stiff about this town.

It is a lovely town with the "old" Lille, typical houses and streets and in the other hand a modern "city" with new buildings (at human size). There are obviously some shopping areas, restaurants areas and especially for young people pubs/bar and nightclubs.

Around lille you can go for a break in forest, country side walks, have a day trip to beach (one hour travel from lille), go to Great Britain, go easily to Belgium (our neighbours are really nice people).

There are about a million people living around (above 30 km around Lille).

There are a very important student life (about 100 000 students and an important parts of foreign students) spread in differents parts of the community of towns arond lille.

So the town is full of life with a human size despite of big cities as Paris.

Public transportation are quite well designed with automatic subway which allow you yo cross lille from part to part in one hour.

About student job, there are a lot of shops offering part time jobs so that allows students to earn one's living.

As for the weather, don't come to lille for the outdoor sun, it'is well known that the sun is in the eart of its inhabitant (called les ch'tis in refernce to a recent block buster movie : Bienvenue chez les ch'tis).

Definitely, I believe that Lille is a city for students !

I don't know the other cities, i believe that you will also be wellcome by the "Marseillais".
