Lille, Rangers edge closer to Ligue 1 and Clydesdale Bank Premier League titles
Lille are on the verge of ending their title drought as they moved closer to their maiden Ligue 1 title in 57 years with a 2-1 victory over St. Etienne.
It did not start all too well for Lille as they fell behind as early as in the fifth minute when Emmanuel Riviere scored for St. Etienne. However, just 10 minutes later, Tulio de Melo scored to restore the parity in the game. In the 66th minute
of the game, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rio-Mavuba-c31174 became the hero for his side when he scored what proved to be the winning goal on the night.

However, Olympique Marseille will have a chance to cut that gap back to 4 points when they face Brest on Thursday but with just 3 games remaining in the season, the Ligue 1 trophy seems to be heading to Lille.
Paris St. Germain on the other hand failed to move into a coveted Champions League spot as they failed to beat Nancy at Pac des Prices.
PSG drew 2-2 with Nancy to relinquish hopes of making it to the Champions League and now hope for a miracle to make it into the continental competition next year.

Rangers will have the chance of wrapping up the title in the last game of the season against Kilmarnock at Rugby Park on Sunday.
However, the party can start early at Ibrox if Celtic fail to beat Hearts on Thursday.
On the other end of the table, Hamilton saw their hopes of top-flight survival slip away from them as they fell to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of St. Johnstone.
Hamilton did start the game brightly but failed to convert their chances and paid a heavy price when Craig scored from the penalty spot after Andy Jackson was brought down in the box by Mark McLaughlin.
On a brighter note, St. Mirren guaranteed their survival in the League with a 1-0 win over Aberdeen.
Gareth Wardlaw scored in the 65th minute of the game to seal all three points for his side. St. Mirren’s win combined with a loss for St. Johnstone meant that the Buddies will surely be playing in the top flight of Scottish football next season.
