Isidore Partouche, who owns 40% of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lille-OSC-c39800, is annoyed at the way the club’s new name was made and has sent out a warning to president Michel Seydoux to make things up before it’s too late
Isidore Partouche, who owns 40% of Ligue 1 side Lille OSC’s shares, has warned club president, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michel-c25453 Seydoux that the club’s new stadium, the Grand Stade Lille Metropole, should be named after his company, Groupe Partouche else his company will be forced
to stop the club’s financial backing.
Michel Seydoux owns 60% of Lille’s shares but has to rely on other companies that can generate cash through the club’s naming rights. And, Partouche is very annoyed at the way the club’s new stadium has been named.
Partouche made an offer of 2.5 million euros for the stadium’s naming rights which was not accepted by the city’s mayor, Martine Aubry who is expecting at least 3.8 million euros for the naming rights. And, Partouche has issued an ultimatum to the club’s
hierarchy to better do something quick before the company is forced to put an end of the patronage of LOSC.
“I wrote a recommendation to Lille metropolitan but I never received a response. So I warn, if you do not give me one good reason why we have not been selected, the Groupe Partouche will stop the patronage of LOSC in a very short time: from swimwear, to
advertising, everything,” dropped Partouche while talking to L’Express.
And, Partouche claims that Aubry’s claim for the stadium naming rights are far-fetched and that no one will give them the price they want.
The threat issued by Partouche is real and very much possible and his departure could endanger the finances of Michel Seydoyux’s club.
With a very indifferent start to the new campaign (currently Les Dogues are in 10th place in the league), Rudi Garcia’s side could have done without this new trouble in the economic field. Stuck in the middle of the table, Michel Seydoux will
now have to deal with a fresh new issue and if he chooses to take his time, it might be detrimental to the club’s chances of being a consistent force in Ligue 1.
