In a bid to keep the France international at Grand Stade Lille Métropole, the Ligue 1 outfit has offered him a new contract with improved terms

English Premier League side Newcastle United are leading the race for the signature of the highly-rated Frenchman and have seen their initial bid for the player rebuffed by the Ligue 1 outfit.

However, reports claim that the want away full-back could yet stay with Les Douges. Lille president Michel Seydoux has revealed that the club intends to hold onto their star asset and have offered Debuchy a new and improved contract to stay with the club.
While talking to reporters, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michel-c25453 Seydoux stated that he wants Debuchy to stay at the club where the player started his professional career. The club president is hoping that the 26-year-old will choose to stay with the club after returning from the holidays.

“I think Mathieu is an essential element of our game and he knows it,” he added.
”We’ll see how things will slowly evolve.”
According to reports, nothing has been decided regarding Debuchy’s future with Lille and the Frenchman is expected to make a decision about his next move in next few days.
Mathieu Debuchy, who enjoyed a successful 2011/2012 Ligue 1 campaign with Lille, making 32 appearances for the club and scoring 4 goals in the process, wants to move to Newcastle United and is unwilling to sign a new deal with Les Dogues.
