The Brazilian striker will be out of contract this summer and Les Dogues have still not offered him a new contract which puts his future under a lot of scrutiny
Tulio De Melo is an enigma for Ligue 1 giants LOSC Lille. The striker from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Brazil-c2858 has had his fair share of injuries that have hindered his progress. However, the player has recently come to the fold and has performed decently as well. In the 1-0 win over
OGC Nice, De Melo scored the only goal of the game and Rudi Garcia might consider offering him an extension to his current contract.
“As yet, there has been no proposal. But we have started talking. It would please me to stay here. I love the city and the northerners,” were the words of the striker on April 16 this year.
Out of contract this June, De Melo is keen to stay at the club but knows that things could change rapidly for him. However, in recent weeks, the striker has become an important part of the rotation policy at the club.
According to La Voix http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Du-c11689 Nord, De Melo and the Lille officials are gradually heading towards an agreement for a new contract. That would keep him at Villeneuve d’Ascq until June 2014.
The contract reportedly has an option of another year under certain conditions. Often injured, De Melo will have to prove his fitness if he wants to exercise the option of another year on his contract.
From a purely sporting point of view, Melo offers a diverse offensive game for Les Dogues which is the main reason why Rudi Garcia wants to keep hold of him.
The striker is a weapon of choice for Rudi Garcia and the Lille tactician knows that he needs striking options for next season.
Though Nolan Roux has proved himself to be an important part of the squad for the coming years, having a more experienced Tulio De Melo will have its benefits.
