The return leg on Wednesday will determine the fate of the Champions League spot for the Ligue 1 side as Rudi Garcia’s men attempt to overcome the goal deficit of their away match
Lille will be pressing hard to overturn the aggregate deficit come the return leg at home after the last season’s Ligue 1 third placed side faltered in Denmark. Lille definitely face the pressure from all and sundry and Rudi Garcia is optimist that his side
will rise to the occasion.
According to the 48-year-old Garcia, “Our performance was not as catastrophic as that, except in terms of the score.” The team however, lacked the killer instinct. Both teams had kept strong defence and the forwards did not do much to produce an attacking
display.
So was Lille as the number of chances that were created was significantly less in the first leg. Lille could have secured a draw in the away fixture had they not missed a penalty.
“When we have the chance to score, we have to do it. We intend to come out of this match with our heads held high and with no regrets” said Rudi Garcia, who has served as a Lille player, when he was young.
The manager is confident of his team and sees no reason why the team cannot turn the tables in the return leg.  Garcia added, “If our performance is up to the scratch, I am convinced that we will qualify. But it remains a match of football and you can never
be sure of anything.”
To further boost the morale of the Ligue 1 giants, reports have emerged that the newly built Grand Stade at Lille which will be hosting its first ever European fixture has already been sold out.
Garcia has taken the positives out of the development and believes that the sell out is an emphatic declaration by the fans that they still believe in the club.
However, Garcia also said that the match in hand is not going to be an easy one.  “Kobenhavn are a pretty complete side, but we intend to put them in a tight spot” said the cautious manager.
