Lille sign http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-Rozehnal-c10594 from Hamburg on a permanent deal – Ligue 1 news
According to French online magazine 7sur7, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Czech-Republic-c2882 international David Rozehnal has sealed a permanent move to Ligue 1 champions LOSC Lille from Bundesliga side HSV Hamburg.
The 30-year-old spent the 2010/2011 season on loan at Lille and although the former Newcastle United man was not a regular starter in Rudi Garcia’s side, the defender is willing to join the club on a permanent deal.
Rozehnal made just 13 appearances for Les Dogues but says that he is willing to become a permanent part of the French champions and is happy with his role at the club. The Czech international was a part of the Lille side that achieved its first domestic
double in 67 years.
Newly-appointed http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sporting-89-c40576 Director of Hamburg, Frank Arnesen revealed that Rozehnal has left the club for 500,000 Euros. While talking to the media, Arnesen said, “David wanted to stay with Lille and told us of his wish. We have no issues with it and are
happy with the transfer.”
Rozehnal’s first stint in French Ligue 1 came when he was signed by Paris Saint-Germain in 2005. The centre-back went on to make 75 appearances for Les Parisiens before joining Premier League side Newcastle United for 2.9 million Pounds.
However, the Czech Republic international left the club for Serie A side http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hamburger-SV-c39485 in 2009. A poor first season at the club forced the Bundesliga side to loan him to Lille.
Though Rozehnal was not an integral part of the Lille side that won the Championnat, his presence in the team gave coach Rudi Garcia a good defensive option on the bench. Rozehnal’s contributions in Lille’s historic double might have been sporadic, but Rudi
Garcia was keen on extending his stay at the Villeneuve d’Ascq.
With Lille competing on two different fronts next season, Garcia would be looking to have several options available to him so that Lille remain in great shape both in Ligue 1 and in the UEFA Champions League.
Many would criticise Rozehnal’s decision to extend his stay at Lille but it seems that Lille’s recent achievements have motivated the Czechoslovakian to add a few more medals to his cabinet as he reaches the twilight of his footballing career.
