Lim Khim Wah aims to break into best 20 positions by the end of current year – Badminton news
Malaysia’s Lim Khim Wah sets higher target as he wants to break into the best 20 positions in the Men's Doubles world rankings by the end of current year.
Khim Wah has become comfortable with his new partner, Goh Wei Shem and is looking for elevation in the world rankings. Currently, Khim Wah and Wei Shem are ranked 35th in the world.
The spirited Khim Wah has been playing good badminton with his previous partner, Chan Peng Soon, but failed to win any major tournament. Peng Soon’s main focus was on the Mixed Doubles event. That’s why; both shuttlers split up and got different partners
to compete in the tournaments.
In April, 2011, Khim Wah set up partnership with Wei Shem and delivered wonderful performance to reach at the 35th position in the world rankings. They played semi-final in the last month’s Vietnam Open 2011.
In the 2011 Japan Open Super Series, the Malaysian duo stunned Guo Zhendong and Chai Biao, who were the second seeds in China. This performance shows that they are playing with a wonderful coordination and have settled down their partnership.
Khim Wah is satisfied with his progress in the international events by partnering with Wei Shem. Now his aim is to perform well in the upcoming events and get better world ranking.
He said, “It feels good to be a permanent pair with V Shem now ... I have finally settled down and am starting to play consistently. Back when I was paired up with Peng Soon, all I could think about was who was I going to play with in the next tournament
and it was quite a confusing time for me.”
He further added, “My level of play has also improved and my performances have been pretty good so far, having consistently reached the quarter-finals and pulling off upsets.”
Khim Wah also expressed that the coach is cooperating with the pair and giving them a chance to improve our ranking by performing well at international tournaments.
The duo will be in action at the upcoming Denmark Open Premier Super Series, which is set to kick off in Denmark from October 8-23.
