Lim Khim Wah and Chan Peng Soon set to compete at the World Championships 2011 – Badminton News
Malaysian Doubles shuttlers, Lim Khim Wah and Chan Peng Soon are set to compete in the World Championships 2011, starting from August 8, in London. The Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) has decided to send them in the prestigious event along with Koo
Kien Keat – Tan Boon Heong and Hoon Thien How – Mohd Zakry Abdul Latif.
Lim Khim is quite excited at this last minute call by BAM, as they failed to qualify for the event on merit. However, BAM decided to send the World Number 37 pair to represent Malaysia in the Men’s Doubles category at the World Championships 2011, as the
pair is expected to perform well in the event. The duo certainly also has the potential to stage upsets.
It is the second time that Lim Khim has got a surprising opportunity to play in a prestigious event. He received a call to play with the partnership of Wong Pei Tty as a Mixed Doubles couple in the Super Series Masters Finals 2008 and now, he is set to play
with Chan Peng in the Men’s Doubles category of the World Championships.
While talking about this surprising decision of BAM, Lim Khim said, “This is the second time that I have been lucky. The Super Series Masters Finals was my first major event and now I have been given a chance to compete in my first world championships. I
am so excited.”
Lim Khim also talked about the prospects of the pair in the World Championships and added, “Our top pair at the world meet is Koo and Tan and they are depended on for medals. We will do our best to create one or two upsets to make their path easy.”
The tournament is just two weeks away and the last minute nomination of Lim Khim and Chan Peng has made them passionate to prove their selection right. The young duo is determined to play top-class badminton by putting every skill they have in their arsenal
and prove their worth against the top shuttlers of the world.
