Lim Khim Wah puts in effort to overcome technical deficiencies in his game – Badminton news
Malaysia’s spirited shuttler, Lim Khim Wah shows his dedication towards the sport by putting in extra effort to overcome the technical deficiencies he faces in his game. He wants to improve in all aspects before the Thomas Cup Qualifying Round, which will be played in Macau from February 13-19.
Khim Wah and his partner Goh V Shem have been positioned at number 33 in Men’s Doubles world standings.
They have proved their worth in the recent tournaments by playing superb game and have proved that they have potential to become world class shuttlers.
In the national training camp, which is in progress in Kuala Lumpur, Khim Wah is putting extra effort to correct his errors which disturb his flow during the match.
Last year, Khim Wah and V Shem played impressive badminton and reached in the semi-final of Vietnam Open. In the 2011 SEA Games, they delivered superb performance and won bronze medal for Malaysia.
However, in the ending months of 2011 and in the opening month of current year, Khim Wah and V Shem lost their form and remained struggling in international tournaments. In the 2012 Malaysia Open Super Series, they lost in the opening round of the event.
Khim Wah could not play well in Malaysia Open as he committed numerous unforced mistakes and crashed out from the championship.
However, he desperately wants to get rid of deficiencies in his game and is working hard for that purpose.
While talking about the technical problems, Khim Wah said that he is working on his serve which has been causing him trouble during matches.
He said, “I tend to serve badly because I lack somewhat in confidence and tend to lose focus. My coaches say it is probably because I think about it too much. They tell me not to worry even if I miss a serve or two.”
He further added, “I’m spending time after training just to work on improving my technique. Hopefully, I’ll be able to overcome this problem before the qualifying matches start.”
Khim Wah and V Shem will help Malaysian team to earn point in the second Men’s Doubles fight while playing against Hong Kong and South Korea.
