Lim Khim Wah vows to deliver his best at the Thomas Cup Qualifying Round – Badminton news
Malaysia’s Men’s Doubles player, Lim Khim Wah, vows to deliver his best performance in the upcoming team-event tournament of Thomas Cup Qualifying Round, starting from February 14, in Macau.
The young shuttler is determined to help Malaysia in the qualifying-round matches and reserve a berth in the Thomas Cup Finals, which will take place at Wuhan, in May.
Khim Wah with his partner Goh V Shem are expected to play the second Men’s Doubles fight as the top seeds and World Number Six, Koo Kien Keat and Tan Boon Heong, will play the opening Doubles battle.
Khim Wah and V Shem, who have been placed at number 33 in Men’s Doubles world standings, have been struggling to get elevated results for the last few months and have a chance to prove their presence felt in the qualifying matches.
The young Khim Wah, who has been working hard for the last three weeks in the centralised training camp in Kuala Lumpur, is determined to put up superb show of top quality badminton and help his team to qualify for the Finals.
While talking about his plans for the qualifying-round matches, Khim Wah said that he will prove his selection right and will not disappoint his coaches.
He said, “This is my first Thomas Cup outing and, hopefully, I will be able to justify the faith the coaches have in me. A lot is at stake for the doubles players. How we perform in Macau may well determine our fate. For now, though, I would rather stay
focused on the task at hand.”
Khim Wah has been a suffering with a knack of throwing his service into the net or attempting to a service in haste. However, he is now confident that he will not make these mistakes in the upcoming qualifying round for Thomas Cup Finals.
“My weak points are the service and service returns. Sometimes, in my enthusiasm, I tend to put unnecessary pressure on myself by sending the shuttle into the net. I aim to be sharper and more consistent.”
Malaysian shuttlers need to win both group matches against South Korea and Hong Kong if they want to face an easy opponent at the quarter-final stage.
Khim Wah is confident that he will deliver his best to help his team to make the cut by qualifying for the Thomas Cup Finals, which is an important team-event tournament in the badminton world.
