Lime pickle and chick peas?

ive made lime pickle and it needs to forment for 3 weeks, can i add chick peas or will the chick peas go off?

I would be tempted to add them when the lime pickle has fermented.

I have never had lime pickle with chick peas, I do love lime pickle though.
