Limewire 4.18.3 Not Connecting to the Network?

For weeks now, even possibly a month I have not been able to connect to Limewire. I have tried to boot up the program as soon as my computer itself boots, I have also tried to run Limewire after my computer has been online for a few hours. I have tried turning limewire on and leaving it up for days to try and connect; no can do.

Does anyone have a simple answer and fix for this anoying problem?

I am running on a laptop, with Windows Vista, but have never had problems in the past until 4.18.3 was released

  1. If you have Norton Antivirus or Firewall or any Norton product , This is the problem .

  2. Here's what I did... (having the same problem).

    1) Go to Add/Removed Limewire 4.18.3  and remove it. (make sure you know where your Limewire install file is because you will reinstall it).

    2) Deleted the "Documents and Settings" folder which is not removed during the uninstall.  Mine was in: C:/Documents and Settings/myname/.limewire

    3) Reinstalled Limewire like it was the first time...

Problem solved.  Firewall was never an issue, it worked before the upgrade, should still work.

    Good Luck,

  3. Sounds like a firewall blocking it. You need to add it to the exception list so it won't be blocked. First go to start and click on control panel. Look for the icon that says windows firewall and click on that. Click on the exceptions tab up at the top. Scroll down untill you find limewire, and check the box next to it. Once you do this limewire should be able to connect. Hope this helps.

  4. I used to kind of have that problem but it's been working fine as of lately for me.

What I would do is start Limewire, and once I see that it hasn't connected for a while, I close Limewire and restart it.  It worked for me most of the time.  Hope it works for you.

Make sure you CLOSE it.  Meaning, not just close the window, but close the whole thing by disconnecting and everything.

  5. Properly plug out you computer, and beat it with an ancient japanese battle ax.
