If someone downloads music on limewire, can they get arrested?

my friend has limewire pro on a thumb drive and he lets everyone borrow it so they can get free music, im questioning who pays for the songs? limewire cant just always be free right

What everyone else ha written is true but remember that even though you most likely wont get arrested the fine can be very big people have paid thousands of dollars for songs they've illegally downloaded of lime wire

At one point someone did buy the music then put it on the network and when person download another and so fourth.. Then someone may add the same song again and thats how you get more hosts. Limewire uses the Gnutella network for the sharing to go on. Yes its illegal but soo many use it even I do and the FEDS cant log 100billion users and come knocking on the door just not possible. Just watch out for viruses. other than ur fine.

Limewire uses a file-sharing network known as "Gnuttela". Basically, limewire allows you to download files from other peoples computers, which 99.99% of the time is illegal, though millions of people use it. You will not get arrested for this, but you can get fined, sued, have your internet cut off, or you CAN go to jail, but i haven't heard of this much.

Chances are, all the music your friend is downloading is illegal, and even though you do have to pay for limewire pro, it doesn't matter, it's still illegal. Alot of people do it though, and there is a low chance of getting caught. Keep doing it if you want, but just know there can be repercussions!

Oh and something else! Everyone will say you'll get a virus, but as long as it's just music, you won't so don't worry!

It's copyright infringement so therefore illegal..and yes you can get arrested for it, although the chances are, unfortunately, slim that you will.

Millions of people use Lime-wire... And about 300 have gotten caught..

Limewire itself is not illegal.. Dowloading Files, Music, Videos are..

No1 pays... For example, Is like your cousin bought the new cd of Lil Wayne and let you borrow it so you can rip em and copy em into a cd..

It's like that... But your at risk of getting a virus.... So I wouldn't recommend using it...
