I am 59 years old and have worked as a primary caregiver for terminially patients as a live-in. My first patient has MS and passed after being with him for 2 1/2 years. My second was a quadrapaligic, dialysis, type II, sleep apnea, etc, who has just passed away after living and working with him and supervising other caregivers as he had 24 hour care. I was with him for 7 years and miss him dearly.

Anyway, now I am taking care of some medical problems of my own and am on State Disabilitily for another 8 months in which time they will re-train me.

What can I train for in the medical field in less than 8 months using what I already know and not having to stand on my feet for 10 hours a day other than billing and transcribing. Anybody got any advise. druski0918

  1. It all depends on what training your community college or vocational schools in your area offer. I honestly think in your situation Medical Assistant would be best. Or perhaps some sort of medical receptionist if there is a need for that in your area. How are your computer skills?

These jobs could possibly be trained for in 2 or less years:

    LPN/LVN

    EMT

    Phlebotomy

    Radiology Technician

    Pharmacy Technician

    Physical/Occupational Therapy Assistant

    Respiratory Therapy

    EKG Technician

    Ultrasound Tech

    Dental Assistant

    Medical Records Technician

    Unit Secretary

    Biller

    Activity Coordinator

    Admissions

    Scheduler

    Medical Assistant

  2. If you are ready to think out of the box as they say I have some opportunities I think you will love.I am 53 and was able to retire by the age of 50 due to the success of a small business I started from my home. My time is now devoted to helping as many people I can do the same. I am always available to help in anyway I can and answer your questions.
