Question:

Limiting down college options

I am trying to narrow my college options down to a few colleges within an 11 or less hr drive from southern Maine. I am interested in pursuing engineering but I'm not sure what branch. How should I go about limiting my options without knowing exactly what branch I'm interested in

  1. Find a school that offers many types of engineering.  Look into programs at UNH Durham, UMass Amherst, WPI, RIT, and Rutgers.

  2. Visit the schools that you're interested in.  Get to know the school itself, not just the majors that it offers.  Do they offer any sports?  Clubs or organizations that you would like to be a part of?  What are the dorms like?  Do the people seem like they would be welcoming and friendly?  While you're there, you could talk to a professor and sit in on an engineering class.  That might help you decide what seems to be more interesting.  But remember that there is so much more to choosing a college than just deciding on a major.
