Limits to sea?

Question

i was wondering if there were perimeters to where you could go if, for example, you were a windsurfer.

i just saw a video where people where planning to go from britain to france by windsurfing, and was just wondering if that was legal

im asking because im going to start soon, and want to know what limitations there are(obviously i dont plan on sailing to another country just yet)

There are no legal limitations per se,  other than standard passport etc if you do want to travel to a different country.  

The practical limits will generally limit you much more quickly because most people simply can't stay on a board for that long.  You may have some legal limits if you get out too far and require a rescue but usually those are financial, not legal, if anyone tries to impose them at all.
