The match at Tills Estate, Durban, saw Limpopo Under-15s beat Mpumalanga Under-15s by four wickets with 46 deliveries remaining.
Limpopo’s R Botes was an unstoppable assassin as he grabbed seven wickets, crippling Mpumalanga Under-15s on a meagre score of 71.
Limpopo Under-15s almost suffered the same fate, however, R Botes’ 20-run knock helped his side reach the target in 20.2 overs for the loss of six wickets.
Earlier, after losing the toss Mpumalanga Under-15s were forced to bat first, but were never really given a chance to form a solid strategy, as after the opening stand of 34, they kept losing wickets, finding no answer to the bowling they were up against.
Opener O Karodia was the first to find his way back to the pavilion as he perished after belting a knock of eight runs.
Two runs later, the side suffered the loss of their second wicket on the demise of B Brodell, who was caught by Schmidt off Roulston with just 16 runs to his name.
W Muller was Botes’ first wicket of the day, triggering a lethal bowling spell from the bowler, who soon stamped his authority in today’s match.
With M Shum unbeaten on 15, the rest of the batting line-up was annihilated, with none of the batsmen managing to score in double figures.
After such a depressing batting, Mpumalanga Under-15s needed an act of God backed by some outstanding bowling and fielding to earn them an unlikely victory.
