Chinese Taipei’s Lin Chia Yu and Huang Po Jui penetrated into the Men’s Doubles final after winning their semi-final battle against Malaysia’s Teo Ee Yi and Heg Nelson Wei Keat at the Badminton Asia Youth U-19 Championships 2011, in Lucknow, on Friday, July
8.
The fourth seed pair of the event, Chia Yu and Po Jui dug deep into their reserves to beat Teo Ee and Heg Nelson, who were the second seed in the event. It was one of the best semi-final matches of the day, as both sides worked really hard for three-sets
to win the encounter. However, the Taipei Shuttlers emerged as the winners after a wonderful fight of 49 minutes.
The match started in thrilling fashion, as both pairs displayed a wonderful show of strong pushes and jump smashes. Until the interval in the opening game, both sides were close by playing positive badminton.
After the break, Chia Yu and Po Jui changed their tactics at the net, which put them in a better position to put more pressure on the Malaysians, who became a little defensive. The Taipei shuttlers ended the opening game in an impressive manner by the score
of 21-16, in 18 minutes.
Stung with the loss of the opening game, Teo Ee and Heg Nelson bounced back in the match by playing to their full potential in the second set of this semi-final match. The Taipei players made many mistakes in this game and eventually lost it by a difference
of 11-21, in just 14 minutes.
Both duos played attacking badminton in the final game of this interesting battle. However, Chia Yu and Po Jui eliminated the mistakes they made in their previous game and kept firm control over the match.
Chia Yu and Po Jui managed a good lead in the concluding part of the third set and won it with a margin of 21-17, in 17 minutes. The concluding score of this interesting match was 21-16, 11-21 and 21-17.
