Lin Dan and Lee Chong Wei progress at the All England Open Premier Super Series 2011
The top seeds of the men’s singles including, Lin Dan of China and Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia, have booked their spots in the top eight by winning their previous round matches in the All England Open Premier Super Series 2011, at Birmingham, England. The
top seed Chong Wei and number three seed Lin are one step closer to meet in the final showdown of the event. The badminton fans from all over the world are excited to see these two giants of the game in the title match.
The world number one and defending champion, Chong Wei, opened his campaign in the event against Brice Leverdez of France. The Malaysian proved that he belongs to a different class of badminton, as he was playing quite comfortably and without any problem
against the French. He won the match in straight sets with a wonderful margin of 21-9 and 21-11 and moved forward to meet Bao Chunlai of China in the round-of-16.
In the second round, Malaysian shuttler thrashed Bao, who was one of the top players in the event. Chong Wei played a wonderful game and spared no chance for Bao to dominate the game. The top seed clinched the match in straight games with a stunning margin
of 21-16 and 21-16. In the quarter-final battle, Chong Wei will be up against Boonsak Ponsana of Thailand, who is also playing very well and is yet to drop even a single set in the event.
From the lower half of the men’s singles draw, the number three seed Lin of China, has also delivered a superb performance so far in the event and has booked his place in the top eight. The ruling Olympic champion won the first-round-match against Wong Choong
Hann of Malaysia, in straight games with a 21-14 and 21-17 margin. Lin outclassed the Malaysian in every aspect of the game and entered into the second round of the event.
In the round-of-16, Lin thrashed the Indonesian shuttler, Dionysius Hayom Rumbaka, who won his opening round match against Ajay Jayaram of India, in straight sets by a close margin of 21-17 and 21-19. Lin remained in complete control of the game against
the Indonesian and won the match in straight sets by a remarkable difference of 21-11 and 21-17.
In the quarter-final, the Chinese hero will play against the seventh seed Nguyen Tien Minh of Vietnam, who emerged as the winner in his previous match against Du Pengyu of China, in straight sets by a 21-18 and 21-15 score.
In the semi-final match of the tournament, the top seed, Chong Wei will meet either Peter Hoeg Gade of Denmark or Chen Long of China, whereas Lin will be up against the winner of Marc Zwiebler of Germany and Kazushi Yamada of Japan.
