Lin Dan determined to put up a great show despite having minor injury - 2011 World Championships
Despite having a minor ankle injury, China’s most successful badminton player, Lin Dan is confident to play to his full potential at the 2011 World Championships. He has grabbed the Men’s Singles title at the World Championships on three occasions, and the
shuttler is eyeing to win one more crown.
The 27-year-old Dan is enjoying the Number Two world ranking in the Men’s Singles category and is also seeded at number two in the mega event. He got his ankle injured during the training session in Qing Dao, China and took complete rest for one week before
the world meet.
Dan, who is the ruling World Champion, is determined to satisfy badminton fans by playing to his maximum abilities in the event which is in progress at the Wembley Indoor Arena in London, England.
While talking about his ankle injury, Lin said, “The team were training in Qing Dao but I could not complete the stint after injuring my ankle. I felt quite down. I had a good one week’s rest. I ate well and rested well. I am certainly in better condition
now.”
When asked about the prospects of China at the World Championships, Dan said, “It is not all about winning but the team’s responsibility is to make sure that the fans and audience enjoy the best experience.”
The Wembley Arena in which the World Championships are in progress will also serve as the venue for badminton competitions at the upcoming 2012 London Olympics.
The Chinese ace shuttler also expressed his plans relating to the Wembley Arena of London by saying, “This is the first time that I am playing in London. The Wembley Stadium looks nice. My main goal is the Olympic Games next year and I hope to do well.”
If things proceed in the prestigious event according to paper, Lin has bright chances of reaching in the Men’s Singles final and he is expected to meet Malaysia’s Lee Chong Wei in the title match. The Chinese will open his campaign today against Lithuania’s
Kestutis Navickas in the Men’s Singles first round of the World Championships.
