Lin Dan heavy favourite to defend his title at 2012 Olympic Games
China’s Lin Dan, who is widely considered as the one of the greatest shuttlers of all times in the history of badminton, has won all coveted titles at international level and is heavy favourite to defend his Men’s Singles title at 2012 Olympic Games considering that his nemesis Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia is struggling to recover from his ankle injury.
The ruling World and Olympic Champion and World Number One Lin has been impressive on court over a period of almost one decade. He grabbed gold medal at 2008 Beijing Olympics and has also won four World Championships titles.
The 28-year-old Lin is famous for his power and speed on court which makes him different from all other players on the planet.
However, the World Number Two Chong Wei is the only shuttler at the moment who can challenge Lin in all aspects of the game as he has also achieved the competitive skills and knows how to tackle the Chinese player.
Lin’s chances to win another gold medal look strong as Chong Wei got a severe injury last month and is not at his best as he is still recovering from injury and has not yet started full training which is alarming for him as just over 20 days are left in the commencement of mega event.
The Chinese mega star is determined at the moment and he also stated that he will try his level best in training sessions to become fully prepared for Olympics.
He expressed, “I know I will have a tough fight on my hands in London. There is (Lee) Chong Wei and Peter (Gade) to watch out for, as well as my teammates. I will train very hard for London – just as hard as I did in 2008.”
On the other hand, Chong Wei is almost 70 percent fit and he is not sure whether he will get his fitness back ahead of Olympics or will remain struggling.
Countless fans from all over the world want to see Chong Wei fit and they also want a dream final between the Malaysian and Lin as both shuttlers are one class above as compared to all other shuttlers in the world of badminton.
