Lin Dan looking forward for Lee Chong Wei in 2012 Chinese Badminton Super League – Badminton News
Lin Dan and Lee Chong Wei may be the biggest rivals on court but they share a special bond of affinity off the court as the Chinese badminton king is eagerly waiting for his next meeting with the Malaysian ace.
Lee Chong Wei is likely to represent Hangzhou region in Chinese Badminton Super League which will be in full swing from the fourth week of August this year.
World Number one shuttler Lin Dan beamed with excitement while sharing the news of their meeting. He hoped that Chong Wei will visit him more often to strengthen their bond.
He said, “Lee and I will meet when he comes to China for a tournament this month. I hope that he can come here more often, be my guest and we can become very good friends.”
In 2012 London Olympics, Lin Dan showed his affection when he hugged his Malaysian competitor after winning the title match.
This was the second time that Chong Wei missed an Olympic gold medal as he also squandered a chance against Lin Dan in previous edition of the mega event. This year he became so emotional that he could not stop his tears and kept crying in the post match
ceremony.
At that time, Lin Dan went to him and offered his commiserations. He briefed that he just wanted to tell his friend that regardless of the result, he played like a real Champion.
He said, “While waiting for the medal presentation, I gave him a hug. I wanted to tell him that it was a great match. I believe that no matter who won it, we had displayed our best abilities.”
Moreover, he also showed his respect for other contemporaries like the Danish shuttler Peter Hoeg Gade and the Indonesian campaigner Taufik Hidayat. He declared himself lucky to be in the era of such legends of the arena.
He said, “I am lucky to have the company of great players like Lee, Peter Gade-Christensen and Taufik Hidayat throughout my badminton career.”
Earlier, Lin Dan has announced that he wanted to invite all these shuttlers to his grand wedding banquet which was delayed due to his Olympic preparations.
