Lin Dan overpowers Chen Jin to continue his rubber-set victories at the 2011 Japan Open Super Series
China’s most successful and celebrated shuttler, Lin Dan beat his compatriot, Chen Jin in the Men’s Singles quarter-final to continue his rubber-set victories at the 2011 Japan Open Super Series. He won all of his previous round matches in three games and
got same results in his fight against Jin in Tokyo, on Friday, September 23.
World Number Two shuttler, Dan employed everything he had in his arsenal to oust his compatriot Jin in a wonderful three-set fight which lasted for 69 minutes. Jin, who is currently World Number Six, remained a little unlucky in the end as he lost the fight
with a tight margin.
The quarter-final match between the current and former World Champion was the most entertaining and thrilling fight of the day at the indoor arena in Tokyo. Both shuttlers belong to the highest class of the game as they have extensive experience of playing
at international level.
The start of the match was absolutely stimulating, as both shuttlers played high-quality badminton and showed that why China is the leading nation in badminton. The score progressed closely in the entire opening game and reached at 20-20. The second seed
Dan made a mistake which put him one-set behind of Jin, as the higher ranked Chinese lost the game with a margin of 20-22 in 25 minutes.
Dan, who is famous for his extra-ordinary speed and stamina, changed his tactics and played to his maximum abilities in the second game and remained successful in winning it by a big difference of 21-14 in 20 minutes.
The third set was breath-taking for the local crowd, as they saw the top shuttlers progress in the match by remaining neck-to-neck. The score was 20-20 when the Olympic Champion Dan proved his skills and scored two successive points to win the game by a
22-20 score, in 24 minutes. The ending score of this 69-minute clash was 20-22, 21-19 and 22-20.
In the Men’s Singles semi-final, Dan will take on another compatriot, Chen Long who is World Number Four and the fourth seed in the Japan Open.
