Lin Dan passes through semi-final to set up a clash of the titans in final of All England Open
The badminton World is all set to see the clash of the titans in the final of the All England Open as the Chinese master Lin Dan passed through the semi-final of the event on March 10, 2012.
The World Number two Lin Dan ousted the Japanese shuttler Kenichi Tago in semi-final of the event and now he is scheduled to lock horns with the World Number one Lee Chong Wei from Malaysia.
The "super" Lin Dan rated his performance, against the young Japanese shuttler, an average performance as he took 48 minutes to overpower his rival with final score of 21-18 and 21-17 on the board.
There were interesting phases in his semi-final performance as he was sluggish in the start by giving his rival a chance to excel, calm in the middle like intoxicated with his prime skills and furious in the end like he decided to wrap up the show.
He trailed behind his Japanese challenger on the score board in first set but he ended the first chapter by starting his victory saga with a decisive 21-18 margin.
Initially, the World and Olympic Champion Lin Dan was like throwing a challenge to the Japanese Kenichi Tago to overtake him but after trailing with 12-15 score on the board he blew away his rival.
The sequence was different in the second game, as Lin first raised his lead on the score cards and then allowed his opponent Kenichi Tago to comeback from a five-point deficit.
The Chinese maestro stole the limelight with his electrifying performance in the end. He bagged the straight-set victory with score board flashing final figures of 21-17.
This tide of success took Lin Dan to the final where he is going to meet the World Number one Lee Chong Wei. The Chinese badminton ace was a bit emotional and he intended to play without thinking about winning or losing.
Lin Dan said, "I just want to have a good memory of this. I just want to have good memories of the big four. I don't know how often we will see each other again."
He was referring to three veterans, Lee Chong Wei, Taufik Hidayat and Peter Gade who are likely to bid farewell to the arena in the near future.
Sunday’s final is going to be the 28th meeting between Lin Dan and Chong Wei. The Chinese has dominated in most of the encounters and if he continues with his form and wins the All England Open title will be his fifth title, a record in professional
era.
