Lin Dan slaughters Lee Hyun Il to cruise into Men’s Singles final at London Olympics 2012
China’s top shuttler and ruling World Number One Lin Dan cruised into Men’s Singles final after playing killing badminton in semi-final contest when he slaughtered Korea’s Lee Hyun Il at the London Olympics 2012 on Friday, August 3, in England.
The defending champion Lin, who is the second seed in Men’s Singles draw of the tournament, played at his maximum speed and did not spare any chance for his rival at any stage and eventually wrapped up victory in a lopsided fashion.
The higher ranked Lin was at his best speed as he dictated the pace of rallies throughout the contest and gave a severe lesson to the World Number 10 Lee Hyun by finishing off the battle in straight sets with a huge margin on the score board.
In the meanwhile, the lower ranked Korean shuttler was completely helpless against the fast and power play of his Chinese opponent as he had no answer to the positive play of Lin and lost the battle in straight sets with a one-sided score.
The start of the match was shocking for the Korean player as the Chinese shuttler paced up rallies from the opening points and took a wonderful lead on score board without facing any problem.
The second seeded Lin was quite confident on court and he did not let his rival to dominate the pace at any stage and remained successful in taking a wonderful lead until the break.
After the interval, the Chinese shuttler continued his fireworks without showing any mercy to his rival and eventually took the set with a killing 21-12 score on the board.
In the following game, Lee Hyun played slightly better badminton by showing a little aggression and remained close at the board.
However, Lin played aggressive badminton towards the end of opening half and managed a reasonable lead until the break.
After the interval, the Chinese played killing badminton by taking the bird early and executed powerful smashes in right areas which helped him to end up the second game with a huge difference of 21-10.
The impressive Lin easily sent Lee Hyun packing with a super 21-12 and 21-10 score on the board.
In the final battle, Lin will be up against Malaysia’s Lee Chong Wei who tamed China’s Chen Long in the other semi-final clash.
