Lin Dan stamps victory over Simon Santoso to grab Men’s Singles title at German Open GP Gold 2012
China’s Lin Dan, widely considered as the best ever shuttler in the history of badminton, proves his supremacy in the arena as he grabbed Men’s Singles title after taming Indonesia’s Simon Santoso in the final of German Open GP Gold 2012 on Sunday, March
4, in Germany.
The top seed Lin, who has been positioned at number two in the world standings, played tremendous badminton and proved that he is one class above his Indonesian opponent in all aspects of the game.
Lin did not take much time as he consumed just 39 minutes in the court and registered victory over Santoso who is World Number 11 at the moment.
In the opening game, Santoso played fast badminton and matched the speed of his higher ranked rival in the first few rallies.
However, he could not maintain his speed and also lost his focus as his opponent started to inject more power into his strokes.
Lin played with precision and did not miss even a single chance to maintain pressure on his lower ranked opponent.
Until the one-minute interval in the first game, the top seeded Chinese was moving ahead on the score board by reaching at 11-7.
After the break, Lin remained consistent and played dominating badminton in the whole concluding part. On the other hand, Santoso failed to play positive game and remained in trouble.
Lin enjoyed a smooth sailing in the opening set and bagged it with an impressive 21-11 score on the board.
In the second game, the top seed played to his maximum potential from the opening points and remained successful in taking an early lead.
He did not show any mercy to Santoso who could not live up to expectations. Until the one-minute break, the Chinese was in strong position as he established a wonderful lead of 11-5.
In the concluding half of second game, Lin was focused in the game and kept on playing at his best speed. He did not drop the pace of rallies and won the game with a tremendous margin of 21-11.
Lin ended this Men’s Singles final in 39 minutes with a one-sided 21-11 and 21-11 score on the board.
