Lin Dan succeeds to qualify for a dream final in the 2011 Korea open super series

China’s Lin Dan survived in an epic battle against smart Indonesian shuttler, Simon Santoso, in a thrilling semi-final match of 2011 Korea open super series premier tournament in Seoul, South Korea.
It was a superb fight throughout the match between the two shuttlers and the Chinese, who is the number six seed in this event, emerged as the winner after a three-set hard fight against the impressive Indonesian, who had defeated the number three seed Danish
player, Peter Gade, in quarter-final in straight sets. The Chinese will be facing World Number One, Lee Chong Wei, in the final.
The world and Olympic champion, Lin Dan, is characterised as the most aggressive athlete in the world of Badminton. The 27-year-old Chinese has won every major title in the arena of the game. The reigning Olympic champion suffered by an injury in the previous
week in the quarter-final stage of Malaysian Open super series, but put up a tremendous run from the first round to the final stage of 2011 Korea open super series premier event.
Right from the start of the first game, both players were toe-to-toe by matching the speed and stamina of each other. It was an even fight until the end of the first-set, where Simon Santoso made some crucial mistakes and Lin Dan won the opening set by a
close score of 23-21.
In the second game of this superb semi-final match, both shuttlers once again delivered a terrific performance and the set came to an end in favour of the Indonesian, who won it by 22-20.
In the third and the final set of the match, it was the Chinese who took control and dominated the game by employing his extensive experience. The superb Chinese kept his opponent moving around the every corner of the court and won the third game by a 21-15
score on the board.
This three-set win of Lin Dan over Simon Santoso was one of the epic fights which took 75 minutes of top quality play. In the other semi-final, Lee Chong Wei has already got rid of China’s Du Pengyu by grabbing the match in straight-sets.
It will be a dream final as the two great players of the current time are going to fight for proving their supremacy in the badminton world. In head-to-head statistics, both players have met 21 times and it is Lin Dan who is clearly leading by winning 14
matches, while Lee Chong has emerged victorious in seven battles. However, in their last meeting Chong Wei defeated the Chinese in a three-set match in Japan super series 2010.
It is a parallel game on paper as both players are experienced and know each other’s game very well. For badminton fans, it is a dream final between the top players in the game.
