Lin Dan tames Riichi Takeshita in Men’s Singles first round at Badminton Asia Championships
China’s best player Lin Dan lived up to expectations as he did not face any trouble in Men’s Singles first round when he tamed Japan’s Riichi Takeshita at the Badminton Asia Championships on Tuesday, April 17, at Qingdao, China.
The World Number 2 Lin, who is ruling World and Olympic Champion, showed his incredible craft and thrashed his Japanese opponent with a comprehensive margin.
In the absence of World Number One Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia, Lin has been placed at the top in Men’s Singles seeding in Asia Championships.
He played remarkable badminton and won the first fight in just 32 minutes.
Lin, who is known for his incredible stamina and speed in the court, played with precision and continued troubling his opponent in the whole contest by keeping the pace of rallies very fast.
On the other hand, the young Japanese could not match the skills of his higher ranked Chinese shuttler who is famous for his impressive attacking style of play.
In the opening points of first set, Lin played in a relaxed manner by taking little time to get accommodated with the court condition.
In the meanwhile, Takeshita took advantage of his opponent’s slow speed and managed to remain equal on the board until the score reached at 8-8.
At this stage, Lin played attacking badminton and score three consecutive points to set up an 11-8 lead until the one-minute break.
After the interval, Lin injected more power in his shots and started to stretch his lead. He did not face any interruption in his smooth sailing and took the game with a 21-13 score on the board.
In the second set, Lin was stronger from the opening points as he did not let his Japanese opponent to level the score this time.
Until the mid-game interval in second set, Lin managed an impressive lead of 11-6.
After the break, the top seeded Chinese continued his smooth run in the contest and easily ended the second set with a tremendous score of 21-8.
Lin bagged this opening-round fight in just 32 minutes with an inspiring 21-13 and 21-8 score on the board.
