Lin Dan thrashes Srikanth K. to ease into Men’s Singles round-of-16 in Thailand Open 2012
China’s Lin Dan, the one of the most successful shuttlers in the history of badminton, secured his place in Men’s Singles round-of-16 after showing his magical craft against India’s Srikanth K. in the second round contest of SCG Thailand Open Grand Prix
Gold 2012 in Bangkok, on Wednesday, June 6.
The current Olympic and World Champion Lin, who has been positioned at number two in the world rankings and top seed in Thailand Open, displayed his incredible skills while playing against the Indian shuttler and wrapped up a comprehensive victory.
The higher ranked Chinese shuttler was quick from the opening points of the match and maintained his commanding position throughout the fight and ended it up in straight games in just 26 minutes.
On the other hand, the spirited Indian could not continue his winning run in the tournament as he was facing the best shuttler in the world and lost the contest without winning any set.
In the first game, Lin showed urgency in setting up a remarkable lead on the score board by playing impressive badminton. He was composed in the court and did not let his Indian rival to find a good rhythm.
Until the one-minute break, it was the top seeded Chinese shuttler who established a striking lead of 11-6.
After the break, Srikanth tried to play aggressive badminton but failed to shake the rhythm of Lin who was smooth in his movements in the court.
The Chinese remained in complete control of rallies and took the opening set of the match with an impressive 21-11 score on the board.
In the following game, Srikanth tried to show his brilliance but failed to take even a small lead against Lin who was playing on a different level.
The higher ranked Chinese took a wonder lead of 11-4 on the board until the mid-game interval.
After the break, Lin continued playing fast and positive badminton without letting his opponent to catch up the gap. He was fully focused in the game and took the set with a convincing score of 21-13.
The Chinese advanced into the pre-quarter-final round by winning this battle in just 26 minutes with a 21-11 and 21-13 score on the board.
