Lin Dan trounces Sho Sasaki in Men’s Singles quarter-final battle of the China Masters Super Series
China’s ace shuttler, Lin Dan stretched his winning run as he trounced Japan’s Sho Sasaki in the Men’s Singles quarter-final battle of the 2011 Li Ning China Master Super Series, on Friday, September 16, in China.
The ruling World Champion, Lin played impressive badminton against the spirited Japanese and won the match in straight games. The Chinese finished-off the game in style as he faced no problem at all to advance into the Men’s Singles semi-final of the home
event. He took only 37 minutes to win the hearts of the home crowd, as he quickly ended the quarter-final contest against the Japanese shuttler.
The top seed Chinese remained ahead of Sasaki throughout the first game, as his fast reflexes and powerful strokes ended the hope of the Japanese to dominate the game. Lin controlled the pace of the game as the first set progressed and his confidence and
brave stroke selection helped him in getting an advantage over his lower-ranked opponent. He reached at 11-8 until the break in the first game of this top-8 contest.
The Chinese was moving in the court with ease as he was picking the bird extremely early, which made his opponent work hard to return the shuttle. The impressive speed and accurate smashes of the Chinese earned him the first game with a 21-15 margin, in
24 minutes.
The second set was a nightmare for Sasaki, as Lin started to play aggressive badminton and established a stunning gap of 11-3 in the first-half. The Japanese almost gave up fighting as Lin was not sparing any chance for his rival to make a comeback in the
match.
The top seed finished the second game in stunning fashion with the margin of 21-6, in just 13 minutes. The match was a one-sided affair, as the encounter ended with the score of 21-15 and 21-6. In the Men’s Singles semi-final, Lin will take on his compatriot
Chen Jin, who defeated Hans-Kristian Vittinghus of Denmark in the previous round of the tournament.
