Lin Dan wants to take a short break for his wedding arrangements – Badminton Update
The two-time Olympic gold medallist Lin Dan is not ready to decide his future in hurry as he intends to stay away from court to arrange his delayed wedding banquet before making any plans for his career.
Lin Dan quietly married Xie Xingfang, a former world champion shuttler, back in 2010 but now he wants to celebrate their marriage in a splendid manner.
The Chinese maestro delayed these celebrations due to his London Olympics preparations and now when he rose to new heights in the mega event he is going to double the joy.
The reigning World and Olympic Champion Lin Dan, who showed intentions to quit the arena immediately after the London Games, stated that he wants a short break to make this important decision with full peace of mind.
He said, "I want to take a break before thinking about my future. Unless I have a very clear target, I don't think I can continue to play as it becomes a burden."
While he is confused about his future, his Malaysian nemesis Lee Chong Wei has announced to continue for next two years and if Lin Dan also goes in same way then badminton world may see these legends meeting in coming edition of World Championships.
At the moment, Lin is just thinking about his wedding banquet as he admitted that he wants to give his wife a perfect wedding.
Moreover, he is also going to invite his arch-rivals on court Chong Wei, Taufik Hidayat and Peter Gade.
He cracked a joke that he is not expecting expensive presents from his contemporaries rather just a traditional Chinese red envelope stuffed with cash will be enough for him.
Lin Dan said, "I'd like to invite Lee Chong Wei, (Pete) Gade and Taufik (Hidayat) to my wedding. They don't need to give me presents, only a red envelope will do".
The 28-year-old shuttler is only player in the badminton history to complete “Grand Slam” by claiming all nine major titles of the world.
Meanwhile, he also holds the honour to be the most successful player with 15 world titles under his belt.
