Lin Dan wins the battle of supremacy in the 2011 Korea Open super series – Badminton News
The world’s all-time best badminton player, Lin Dan from China, has won the final of 2011 Korea Open super series premier event against top seed, Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia. The reigning Olympic Champion again proved his supremacy when he clinched the first
title of 2011by beating the Malaysian top seed in a thriller three-set final match in a packed Seoul National University Gymnasium, Seoul, South Korea.  
For the Badminton fans from around the world, the battle between Lee Chong Wei and Lin Dan is always exciting as both players belong to the highest class of the game. The final match, as expected, was exhilarating right from the start to the final moment.
It was a contest comprising on three sets and both players displayed their skills and temperament they are known for.
Right from the start, both parties worked hard to get dominance over their opponents by taking a lead in the first-set. However, nobody took clear a lead until the opening half of the game where Lin Dan was leading by 2 points. In the second part of the
opening set, the game gradually became more and more exciting until 18-18. The Chinese proved a little better in the end and won the first game by a little margin of 21-19.
The second game was an absolute beauty, as the World number One, Lee Chong Wei who fought back and grabbed the second game by a considerable margin of 7 points. He won the second set by 21-14. The Malaysian took the lead in the first-half of the second set.
Chong Wei always remained ahead of Lin Dan after passing the 1-1 figure in the second game and levelled the match by one game to one.
The final set of the battle of 2011 Korea Open super series premier tournament was a tight contest until the first interval of the third game, where the Chinese was leading 11-9. Right after the interval, the Malaysian took three consecutive points but then
the current Olympic Champion and three times world champion, Lin Dan, accelerated the pace and controlled the game throughout the third set. The impressive shuttler from China won the decider by a margin of 5 points. The best shuttler from China won the final
match by 21-19, 14-21, 21-16 and clinched his first title of 2011.
Lin Dan and Lee Chong Wei are considered arch rivals as they are among the most complete players in the entire history of Badminton. Current World number One, Malaysian player, Lee Chong Wei, is yet to prove his skill in the World and Olympic Championships.
He has won all major events except these two most prestigious titles. In the Beijing Olympics (2008) he was quite close to the destination but his nemesis Lin Dan, came to interrupt his superb run and took the title by giving him a severe treatment. In Seoul,
the Chinese shuttler did not let him win his third consecutive title of the year 2011, as Chong Wei has already won two major titles in the opening month of 2011.
