I've never in my whole life made a long distance phone call...lol

How does it work?

I want to make a long distance call to Lincoln, UK.

Does anyone know the area code or anything else I'll need to know about calling the UK?

Firstly Lincoln is nowhere near Sheffield.

You don't say where you will be calling from , this will have an effect on how you make the call. I'll assume you're american.

First you need to dial your local number to access the international switch board. In the usa this is: 011

Then dial the country code, for the UK this is 44

Then dial the area code (wthout the leading zero)  followed by the subscriber number.

For example if you wanted to call Lincoln City Council on: [phone]

you would dial 011 44 1522 881188
