Lincoln-Sudbury boys volleyball team defeats Blackstone Valley by 3-0

Friday turned out to be a good day for the Lincoln-Sudbury boys volleyball team as they were able to defeat the Blackstone Valley by 3-0.
Not only were the Warriors able to hand out a defeat to Blackstone Valley by winning three back-to-back sets, each one of them was won by a comfortable margin.
By the time that the Warriors had started celebrating their win in the initial round of the MIAA Central Division 1 Tournament by cheering along with the crowd while the Blackstone Valley team was heading out of the court with heads hung low, the scoreboard
displayed the following final set scores, 25-11, 25-16, and 25-9.
With their recent win, the number second ranked Warriors have been able to bring up their overall number of season wins to a figure of 16. These victories have been bagged at the cost of incurring losses that amount to be impressively low at only one.
By defeating the number 15 ranked Blackstone Valley, the Warriors have now booked their seats into the quarterfinals in which they will be competing against Marlborough. The numbers even ranked Marlborough team has been able to secure a total of eight wins
in this season so far. They have experienced these victories while tallying defeats that total to be two in all.
The start of the first set of the match saw both the Blackstone Valley as well as the Warriors were almost neck-to-neck with each other. No team was letting the other take the advantage for a long period of time.
However, as the set reached its middle stages, the Warriors were able to pull up ahead at 12-9, mainly due to their strong net play. Eventually, the Warriors were able to bag the first set of the game at 25-11.
After losing the initial set, Blackstone Valley stepped up their game in the second one. However, the Warriors did not let their rivals gain control and took the lead for themselves at 16-6. After that point, Blackstone Valley did not give any significant
competition to the Warriors. As a result, the second set was also secured by the Warriors at 25-16.
After winning the first two sets, it was only a matter of time that the Warriors won the third one at 25-9.
At the end of the match, the Warriors coach, Elizabeth McClung said, “We started off a little slow, but once we got warmed up everything was coming together really nicely. Everything is on the line at this point and it is a lot of fun and excitement with
the big crowds. I think it helps that we have a lot of players who have been in tournaments before for several years.”
