Linda Zetchiri beats Cemre Fere in pre quarter-finals of 2013 Hellas International – Badminton news
Bulgaria’s talented female shuttler Linda Zetchiri stretched her winning streak in the Hellas International and marched into the round of eight on Friday, May 17, 2013.
She was up against the Women’s Singles expert Cemre Fere of Turkey and this encounter lasted for just 30 minutes before ending with decisive figures of 21-16 and 21-18.
The winning contestant, who holds top spot in the tournament ranking, proved herself superior in all departments of game and sealed a splendid straight-set victory. On the other hand, Cemre Fere failed to rise in front of a higher ranked opponent and crashed
out of the event in a woeful manner.
The battle heated up when the Bulgarian campaigner launched an intensive attack and pocketed many valuable points without any interruption. She made best out of this advantage and doubled her lead in next couple of rallies.
Linda did not show any mercy and kept on playing furiously all the way to final moments. At first, she pushed her rival on the back foot with an unassailable lead and then strengthened her grip over game by registering a decent total of 11.
After the one-minute interval, the Turkish lady also showed some spark and brought life back into contest. It was felt that she will claim this crucial match point but then few back-to-back mistakes jeopardised her stakes.
Linda capitalised her competitor’s blunders and finished this segment of the showdown with a favourable result of 21-16.
However, things were not that much easy in the following game as the Turkish campaigner showed great fighting spirit and challenged her opponent in all departments of game.
This time, Cemre Fere did not allow her challenger to gain an early lead and stood close to her on the points table. She played with great precision and amazed everyone with her unusual tactics.
Both contenders stood toe-to-toe all the way to third quarter of the set but then Linda showed better finishing skills and locked the honour in a commendable manner.
She maintained a decisive lead till the final moments and raised hands as victor after putting 21-18 score on the board. Now she will lock horns with Stella Knekna in the quarter-final round.
