Lindaweni Fanetri beats Nichaon Jindapon in quarter-finals of 2012 Syed Modi International
Indonesia’s Lindaweni Fanetri played flawless badminton in the round of eight of Syed Modi International India GPG and secured a semi-final berth on Friday, December 21, 2012.
She unseated Nichaon Jindapon in a hard fought tussle which was staged at local badminton complex of Lucknow.
Both contenders displayed great fighting spirit and earned great deal of admiration while piling up decisive figures of 21-15, 10-21 and 21-12.
The lower ranked but talented Indonesian campaigner locked the honour by prevailing in the opening and ending segments of this showdown.
Though, the Thai shuttler also put an honest effort but luck was not on her side and she had to face a woeful exit.
In the opening game, Lindaweni did not wait for the right moment and launched a brisk attack to trounce her challenger.
She unleashed a flurry of productive strokes and established an unassailable led in no time. This initial advantage helped her in next couple of rallies and she widened the gap on points table.
She did not make any mistake and finished first half of the set with a dominating position of 11. After the one-minute interval, Lindaweni picked up some speed and left her opponent far behind with 21-15 margin.
However, next game changed the scenario as Nichaon showed elevated craft on the court and managed to stay alive in the contest.
The Thai player did not show any sign of confusion after first set loss and played with positive attitude. She gained an early advantage and maintained that upper hand all the way to game point situation.
Lindaweni looked completely out of touch throughout this segment of the battle as she could pocket only ten points and surrendered after reading 10-21 score on the board.
This interesting development locked them in a survival of the fittest war and both contenders made every effort to tip the scale in their favour.
They remained close until half time but then Lindaweni displayed superior finishing skills and wrapped this encounter in a favourable manner.
She registered an overwhelming total of 21-12 and setup her next clash with the Japanese shuttler Nozomi Okuhara.
