Lindaweni Fanetri brushes aside P. V. Sindhu in Women’s Singles clash – Sudirman Cup 2013
Indonesia’s elite badminton player, Lindaweni Fanetri, showed her elevated skills in front of Malaysian crowd and brushed aside India’s P. V. Sindhu in Women’s Singles contest at Sudirman Cup 2013 on Monday, May 20, in Malaysia.
The experienced Fanetri, who has been showing up a steady progress in her skills, played amazingly well on court and faced limited resistance in disposing her Indian opponent comprehensively.
The Indonesian lady kept a firm control over the pace of rallies from the starting points and maintained her upper hand all the way. She was fully focused on court and succeeded in defeating her rival in straight games, with a superb margin of 21-15 and 21-10 in just 36 minutes.
On the other hand, the in-form Sindhu failed to maintain her aggressive run and couldn’t play positive badminton. She committed many simple errors at crucial stages and eventually lost the match to her Indonesian challenger in a lopsided way.
Fanetri showed her aggression on court from the initial rallies of first set by creating a huge pressure on her challenger. The impressive variations in Fanetri’s strokes and her assertive approach helped her to continue her supremacy against her Indian opponent on court.
The Indonesian veteran progressed with superb speed in the initial part and took a reasonable lead on score board until the one-minute interval. Sindhu tried to put up strong resistance but could not take control of the game and remained struggling in the concluding half of opening set. Fanetri remained consistent in executing powerful shots to her targeted areas and grabbed the first set with an inspiring 21-15 score on the board.
The in-form Fanetri did not lose her concentration at any stage in the starting half of second game as she played with control and aggression. Indonesian shuttler did not face any problem in setting up a sound lead until the one-minute interval.
Fanetri continued putting up sound performance in the second part of second set and successfully clinched the game with a staggering 21-10 total on score board.
