Lindaweni Fanetri clinches Women’s Singles title at Syed Modi International GPG 2012
Lindaweni Fanetri, an upcoming player from Indonesia, proved her highly elevated skills in the arena and remained successful in winning the Women’s Singles title at Syed Modi International India GPG 2012 in India, on Sunday, December 23.
In the final fight, the Indonesian lady showed her brilliance in the arena and outplayed India’s P. V. Sindhu in a hard-fought battle by taking 73 minutes on court.
The seventh seeded Lindaweni, who proved her worth in all of her matches in the tournament, continued her scintillating run in the final encounter when she outplayed the second seeded Sindhu in a thrilling rubber-set contest.
On the other hand, the higher ranked Sindhu tried her best to put up strong show and she also won the second game. But she failed to stay focused in the final set and lost the match in three games with a reasonable margin.
Indonesian shuttler started her campaign in a dominating fashion and remained successful in setting up a wonderful lead until the end of opening half in the first game.
After the break, a confused Sindhu failed to create trouble for her Indonesian rival as she lost her focus in the arena and conceded many points by playing negative shots.
Meanwhile, Lindaweni did not slow down the pace of the game at any stage and comfortably grabbed the first set with a comfortable margin of 21-15.
However, the local shuttler showed her aggression in the second game of this final battle when she found a good flow and remained ahead on the board in the opening half.
After the break, Lindaweni tried her level best to stop the progress of her challenger but she failed to put up strong show and eventually lost the second set with a reasonable margin of 18-21.
In the deciding game, both shuttlers played superb badminton and remained toe-to-toe until the end of first half where the Indonesian shuttler was slightly ahead on the board.
In the concluding part of final game, Lindaweni played with impressive speed and aggression in the arena and managed to end up the set with a three-point advantage of 21-18.
Lindaweni showed a wonderful performance on court and remained successful in winning this final battle in three games with a decent 21-15, 18-21 and 21-18 score on the board.
