Manchester United goal keeper Anders Lindegaard could be out for the remaining Premier League season after suffering recurrence of the ankle problem that has kept him out since January.
The Red Devils’ faced major conundrum when Dutch goalkeeping legend Edwin Van der Sar retired. The shot stopper was one of the best that has ever guarded the Old Trafford posts and with his absence; Sir Alex Ferguson was forced to delve into the transfer
market.
Spanish glove man http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-de-Gea-c10463 made his way to Manchester but things did not get off to a great start for the youngster. His error prone ways, especially his vulnerability to long range crosses left him exposed and the team suffered.
Ferguson then sought to make a change and gradually started fielding Anders Lindegaard instead of the Spaniard, which eventually convinced many that the Dane was better than his teammate.
So convincing were his displays that he become an integral part of the side, only to see his progress go down the drain, when he injured himself during training.
If that wasn’t enough, it seems the upturn in De Gea’s performances has put the final nail in Lindegaard’s coffin. The former Atletico Madrid man has put in a string of sensational outings and has now rightfully earned the title of undisputed starter.
Meanwhile, Lindegaard is now expected to miss the remaining campaign after his ankle problem went from bad to worse.
Although details of the alleged injury have not been revealed, it is reported that Sir http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 Ferguson has been made aware of the player’s woes and has also been told that a recovery date cannot be determined.
Furthermore, Ferguson was also briefed that the shot-stopper is making a slow recovery and will definitely not play any part until the 2012/2013 season.
Academy graduate http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ben-Amos-c7439 could deputize for him though, as his progression up the pecking order has been exemplary and his abilities hailed by the United coaching staff.
However there is not all bad news for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Anders-Lindegaard-c5553, as the club have reportedly taken notice of the services he has provided in the last couple of months and he is in line to receive a new contract which will bump up his pay to £50,000-per-week.
