Lindsay Whalen leads as Minnesota Lynx edge out San Antonio Silver Stars 70-69 – WNBA Recaps
With just a few second to go in the game and San Antonio Silver Stars leading the game by two points, Lindsay Whalen dribbled past the Silver Stars defense, and knocked down a fade away jumper over the out stretched hands Jayne Appel to propel the Minnesota
Lynx to a 70-69 win right at the buzzer. It was the six consecutive win for Minnesota, matching their longest single-season winning streak in franchise history.
Minnesota improved to 13-4 and are heading both conferences of the WNBA. The Silver Stars, on the other hand, saw their two-game losing streak snapped and dropped to 11-6.
In addition to her game-winning jumper, Whalen ended the night with a season-high 23 points, grabbed seven rebounds, dished out six assists and had four steals in the victory. The 29-year-old guard shot 10 for 19 from the field in nearly 30 minutes of action.
Seimone Augustus had 16 points, four assists and two steals while Taj McWilliams-Franklin added 15 points, eight rebounds and three assists in the victory. Rebekkah Brunson pulled down a game-high 13 rebounds for Minnesota.

Robinson also scored 10 points, dished out five assist and grabbed four rebounds for Silver Stars, who have lost two of their previous four games.
Lynx shot 46.3 percent (31 for 67) from the field and limited the Silver Stars to just 39.3 percent (24 for 61). Minnesota also edged San Antonio on the glass at 43-28.
Minnesota started well and carried an 18-17 lead with 02:28 to go in the first quarter, before San Antonio went on an 8-2 to take a 25-20 lead into the second. Silver Stars limited the visiting team to just 10 points in the second quarter and pushed their
lead to 12 points, 42-30, at halftime.
Minnesota played hard in the third quarter and outscored San Antonio 26-13, converting the halftime deficit into a 56-55 lead. Lynx maintained their momentum and carried a 68-67 lead with 01:59 to go in the fourth quarter, before Hammon responded with a
pair of free throw to put Silver Stars ahead by 69-68.
However, Whalen showed what can happen in basketball, when a team has a winning momentum behinds its back, as she nailed a jumper from the right corner over a defender, who was 6 inched taller than her and seal the win for Lynx.
