Line Kruse and Marie Ropke secure Women’s Doubles title at the Yonex DM 2012 – Badminton news
Line Kruse and Marie Ropke, the in-form pair of Denmark, proved their higher skills as they secured Women’s Doubles title after beating Sandra Maria Jensen and Line Kjaersfeldt in the title match of the Yonex DM 2012 in Denmark, on Sunday, February 5.
Kruse and Ropke, who were second seeds in Women’s Doubles draw of the championship, delivered a phenomenal performance in the final contest as they did not show any respect for the number three seeds and won the fight with incredible ease.
It was a straight-set encounter where Kruse and Ropke remained dominant and emerged as the winners by consuming just 31 minutes in the court.
Sandra and Line played remarkable game in the opening half of first set as they dominated the pace of rallies and remained ahead of their higher ranked team-mates until the score reached at 10-7.
On the other hand, Kruse and Ropke could not manage to play dominating badminton in the opening rallies but they found their flow in the end of first half as they scored four points in a row to reach at 11-10.
After the break, Sandra and Line failed to play attacking game as their rivals did not spare any chance for them to dominate the pace. On the contrary, Kruse and Ropke played remained confident and ended the first game with an incredible score of 21-13.
In the second game, Sandra and Line changed their strategy and entertained the crowd with their elevated play. They matched the pace of rallies and did not let their rivals to take lead in the first half of the game.
Kruse and Ropke tried their best to set up a reasonable lead but failed to push their rivals on back foot until the interval where they were two points behind at 9-11 on the score board.
After the break, Kruse and Ropke accelerated their speed at net and also played controlled game from the rear-court area. They scored four consecutive points and took a small lead of 13-11.
Kruse and Ropke continued their impressive run and took the second game with a decent margin of 21-17. The final score of this title match was 21-13 and 21-17.
