Line of bugs??

Question

There was a dead moth on our ceiling. When we went to vaccum it up, there was a LONG line going from the ceiling down to the carpet floor of tiny bugs. What kind of bugs may those be. They were very tiny and squiggly and black. It was like they were attached by a line of spider webbing, but they were not spiders. I just have no clue what they were or how they got there!!! Thanks in advance.
