    (-3/8)*x + 13/8 = 1/3

    -(3/8)*x = -31/24

    x = 31/9

  3. you multiple 23 on both sides, then

    you will have the following equation:

    3(x+5)-12(x-2)=8

    3x+15-12x+24=8

    -9x=-31

    x=31/9 or 3 4/9
