Lineman Paul McQuistan to serve as John Moffitt’s replacement for Seattle Seahawks – NFL News
Seattle Seahawks’ coach Pete Carroll on Wednesday confirmed that lineman Paul McQuistan will start the game against St. Louis Rams in the week 11 of the National Football League current season and said that he would play at right
guard.
Paul’s inclusion came in the light of rookie’s John Moffitt season-ending injury as the latter hurt his right knee in the Week 10 game against Baltimore Ravens.
Moffitt left the game in the first quarter and did not come back on the field. Coach Pete Carroll said that the injury is quite bad and the rookie would have to undergo a surgery to repair his knee. The estimated recovery time
is believed to be more than three months.
Seahawks selected Moffitt in the 2011 NFL Draft. He started all the nine games this season and the coach was disappointed on losing him.
McQuistan also joined Seahawks in January 2011. He has started three out of nine games played this season. He is satisfied with the performance he has displayed so far and said that he felt pretty good about it.
“Pretty decent,” he said. “Obviously I’d take some things back, but for the most part I felt pretty good.”
The coach is also comfortable to have him in the side and said about the player’s performance that that he initially scattered in the first half of the first game, but later on, did a fine job and played good games for the franchise.
“He played very well in the second half and played good, solid football. So we feel comfortable with him playing,” the coach said.
When Moffitt was injured, Lemuel Jeanpierre took his place and finished the rest of the game. Pete Carroll said that the reason the team is including McQuistan in the starting line-up and not Jeanpierre is that the latter has the
ability to play at centre and guard, and is the only reserve player with such a quality.
Furthermore, the coach thinks that McQuistan’s relatively more experience can prove to be a vital advantage for the team.
“He’s played before,” Carroll said of McQuistan. “He has a little more experience. Also we have a situation with Lem where he’s the backup snapper in this game.”
