Question:

Lineouts plays?

On my team, our lineouts are pretty black and white.

We drive the first pod, tap down on the second pod, and only have one real crafty play where the second pod tap goes to the hooker and not the scrummie.

Any ideas to mix it up? Maybe have our jumpers moving around?

  1. Here's one I've always wanted to try but we can never keep the same pack long enough to have 2 pods that are familiar with it.  It's called a peal.  The hooker throws the ball to the first pod. The jumper passes the ball down to the jumper of the second pod who is sprinting past them toward the sideline and curving up the field. This is good if you are in their 22 The person who receives the tap really just has the other teams hooker to worry about and they can pop it to their own hooker  if they get wrapped up.   If you decide to try it let me know how it works for you.

It can also be done to the second pod with the jumper from the first pod running to catch the ball.  Just remember the jumper that's catching  the tap only fakes like they they're going to go up and then books it to receive the ball.

    i dont like rugby

because i dont understand it :)

  3. Here is a simple one: The fisrt lifter faces the hooker as the second pod draws defenders from the line out away from the 5 meter mark the hooker fakes a call to the second pod but throughs to the first lifter then the first lifter runs with the support of the jumper and second lifter. Very simple but I've gained 30 yards running in support of the first and second lifter. Also this is a good platform for a rolling mall to be set up from. If the second pod doesent have any defenders on it meaning there all bunched up with the first pod through to the second pod its an easy win. From there you can go off the top or bring it down and maul it. Cheers.
