Liner build up with salt/chlorine pool.?

Over the winter a salt-like substance has "glued" itself to my liner. What did I do wrong? How do I keep it from happening again? I have worn out 3 hand towels rubbing it off the sides (spent 8 hours). How do I get it off the slope and bottom? A brush won't touch it!

  1. Sounds like calcium which is very abrasive and hard to remove.  Acid would do it but not on a vinyl liner.

Check your calcium hardness levels should be 200 but I bet yours tops 600ppm.  I would also think you were using calcium hypochlorite to shock your pool, bad stuff to use and you can see why!

Your chlorine generator shuts off when the water temps are in the mid to low 50*'s.  An ultrasound device would blast the scale off but I don't know if they are available for pool use.

    You're welcome!!
