Lines Of Battle to topple down the competition in the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Star Appeal Stakes (Listed Race)
Two out of the ten two-year-old entries have made it to the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Star Appeal Stakes (Listed Race), are from the stables of trainer, Aidan O’Brien. Lines Of Battle is backed by 3 to 1 odds, while the 11 to 2 shot for the race, Infanta Branca, lacks appeal as compared to the stable mate due to the eighth trap that she has drawn.
Eighth contenders will confront them over seven furlongs at Dundalk race course on Friday, 12th October, 2012. The winner has been promised €37,375 prize money.
Highly likely to take that prize money is the two-year-old bay colt, Lines Of Battle,
Aidan O’Brien’s under charge has raced just thrice during the season, twice with the stable jockey, Joseph O’Brien, and once he had jockey, Ryan Moore, accompanying him.
War Front’s colt responded to the very first asking of the season to clear the maiden. Wasting no time and effort, the two-year-old raced through the Big Bad Bob European Breeders Fund 2YO (C & G) Maiden on 27th May, 2012 at Curragh race course over six furlongs.
Paired up with the trainer’s son, Joseph O’Brien, the duo tracked the leaders and with the half the track distance down, they ranked third. With two more rivals to take down, the two-year-old had to put in quite a bit of effort for staying resilient, specially during the final furlong.
Staying determined had him winning over the favourite entry, Leitir Mor, by a head’s margin.
The American colt had his next stop in the Group 2 Coventry Stakes on 19th June, 2012 at Ascot race course over six furlongs.
Failing to carry along the winning composure, Lines Of Battle ended sixth in the field of twenty-two. This time the lightly raced colt got a chance to race along with one of the best jockeys around, Ryan Moore.
Dawn Approach won the race.
The last time the two-year- old raced, he qualified as the runner-up of the Group 3 Korean Racing Authority Tyros Stakes on 26th July, 2012 at Leopardstown over seven furlongs.
He was entered as the favourite of the race, and got defeated by just a neck’s mark.
Two out of three tries at Group levels has enhanced his chances for success significantly.
